Helen Kilby-Nelson

I am a graduate artist in residence, at Coventry Artspace, currently working on a body of work that provokes dialogue about housing hierarchies; semiotics, identity and the built environment. Recent work includes: Housing Justice-Shifting the balance of knowledge – a project with Yemima Safra, “Backbone”, a collaborative exhibition responding to the work of Shirley Baker, “For the Sake of a Shilling”, an exploration of epigenetics, belonging and lost narratives, and “Worth//Less”, a response to mediated sexualisation and objectification. I am also a participating artist with Coventry Biennial of Contemporary Art, Bear & Ragged Staff – Ideas of the Rural and my text “Participating in Coventry Biennial” was included in the recent publication, ‘Shifting Ground’.
